Choosing the type of funeral
Arlington Funeral Services understand that being buried or cremated is a very personal decision. The choice can be influenced by either religion, family or cultural beliefs and traditions. If you choose a burial, the Directors at Arlington Funeral Services will enquire about availability in Stoke-on-Trent, and also help you to comply with local regulations and give you an understanding of the associated costs. Should the wish be for the deceased to be buried in an existing grave or family plot, Arlington Funeral Services can assist with arranging for the grave to be re-opened. We will advise you on the necessary paperwork to help facilitate this. If the option is cremation, you will have to decide where the main service will be held. This can either be at your Church, Place of Worship, Community Hall or a committal service at the crematorium. As with burials, regulations are in place and there are restrictions on items, or personal keepsakes that can be cremated with the person, of which we will advise you.

Arlington Funeral Services will collect the deceased from the place where the death has occurred in Stoke-on-Trent, either at home, a hospice or hospital. At this point our Directors will offer you any help, advice and assistance with the selection of coffins, flowers, dressing, embalming and other services to suit your needs. We will also take this opportunity to talk to you about what type of funeral you prefer, and where you would like the burial or cremation to take place. Our role is to help shoulder the burden and to ensure we do our utmost to ensure all the arrangements are made according to the deceased and/or families wishes. Many people prefer the deceased to be dressed in their own clothing. This is a reflection of who they are and represents a personal passion, occasion, hobby and in many instances, an achievement. Examples are wedding dresses, a favourite dress or suit, football club or military uniforms.
In the event of a death there are many people to inform. These include family and friends and organisations. Many people prefer to do this either face-to-face or over the phone, depending on the relationship. You may want to put an announcement in a local or national newspaper to tell people about the death and the details of the funeral.
